Maximising welfare in poultry transport

A new real-time feedback system for maintaining animal welfare during transport came about during the design and delivery of a Canadian quick reference tool to help producers decide if chickens should be transported. The system, called Transport Genie, will be presented at the World Poultry Tech Conference in Atlanta this November. Transport represents a point in the life of a chicken or other farmed animal when many experts say welfare is most at risk. “There are greater variables, such as w
