Output of poultrymeat in the UK set another record in 2017, passing the 1.8 million tonne mark for the first time. Total production of chicken, turkey and duck meat was up by 13,600 tonnes overall to 1.81 mt. This expansion was driven by growth in the broiler sector, which grew by 36,000t or 2.4%, plus an extra 1,000t of duck meat. Pulling the final total down was the turkey sector, where output fell 11% or 18,000t. SMITHFIELD PRICE TRACKER Join 31,000+ subscribers
