The World Egg Organisation (WEO) hosted a successful half-day seminar in Hyderabad, India, bringing together industry leaders to discuss global market trends, avian influenza control, and feed strategies. The event underscores the organisation’s commitment to supporting the development of India’s expanding egg sector.

The WEO India Seminar 2025 attracted strong attendance from professionals across the egg value chain, featuring expert presentations on key challenges and opportunities facing the global and Indian egg industries. The programme addressed critical topics including the global egg market outlook, progress in controlling highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), and feed strategies optimised for modern laying hens.

The speaker line-up brought together expertise from across the international poultry sector. Vitor Arantes from Hy-Line International, Uday Singh Bayas representing IPEMA and Poultry India, and Nan-Dirk Mulder from Rabobank shared their perspectives alongside WEO representatives Dr Olivier Espeisse and Julian Madeley. Suresh Chitturi of Srinivasa Farms moderated the sessions.

Knowledge sharing and networking

Attendees engaged in discussions following the presentations, with conversations continuing during a networking reception and buffet dinner. Such events provide opportunities for professionals to exchange insights and build relationships that can drive industry progress.

“These recent regional activities showcase WEO’s commitment to supporting the growth and sustainability of India’s egg sector through continued knowledge sharing and global collaboration,” the organisation stated.

Following the seminar, WEO maintained its presence at the Poultry India Expo with a dedicated booth, further demonstrating the value of industry collaboration and relationship building in the region.

Recognition for WEO contributions

The organisation’s engagement with the Indian poultry sector received formal acknowledgement during the Poultry India event. Melanie Ridgewell, WEO head of Conferences, and Julian Madeley, director general, were presented with awards on the Poultry India stage in recognition of their contributions to the industry.

India represents a significant growth market for the global egg industry, with rising protein consumption and an expanding layer sector. Events such as the WEO India Seminar provide a platform for knowledge transfer between international experts and local industry professionals, addressing shared challenges including disease control and production efficiency.

The Hyderabad gathering reflects broader efforts by international organisations to strengthen connections with emerging poultry markets, where local expertise combined with global insights can support sustainable industry development.
