Italy launches pilot vaccination programme against avian influenza

The Italian Ministry of Health will this month begin a pilot vaccination project against highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI – H5 subtype). The initiative is being implemented in cooperation with the Veneto and Lombardy regions with the full involvement of the poultry industry supply chain, the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (IZSVe) reports.
