In a move that strengthens the ties between industrial expertise and humanitarian aid, international animal nutrition firm Miavit has presented a €5,000 donation to the non-profit organisation Vétérinaires Sans Frontières (VSF) Germany.
The cheque, which was handed over at VSF’s Berlin office, marks the latest chapter in a growing partnership aimed at stabilising livelihoods in East Africa through improved veterinary care and sustainable agriculture.
The €5,000 contribution serves as a follow-up to Miavit’s significant involvement in the #WeihnachtenOhneHunger (Christmas Without Hunger) campaign. During that initiative, the company matched public donations up to €30,000. Due to the campaign’s success, Miavit contributed a further €5,000 at short notice.
The company has supported VSF Germany since 2024. The organisation works primarily in East Africa, where it aims to improve animal health as a means of securing food supplies and stabilising local livelihoods. A key focus of the cooperation is education and training for local communities, promoting long-term self-sufficiency.
“With our long-standing presence in East Africa, including a site in Kenya, this partnership allows us to strengthen existing regional ties in a meaningful way.” – Dr Lea Middendorf, head of Science to Business at Miavit
The collaboration follows the One Health approach, which recognises the close connection between human, animal and environmental health. Miavit’s guiding principle of “prevention instead of medication” aligns with this philosophy by aiming to reduce disease risks and limit the use of antibiotics through targeted, needs-based animal nutrition.
With the generous donation, both Miavit and VSF Germany are demonstrating how corporate social responsibility can be leveraged to address complex global challenges.
